ANC in Mpumalanga panicks after being exposed for poor service delivery

The DA will not be sidetracked by the ANC’s panicked response to DA Leader Mmusi Maimane’s exposure of Vice President David Mabuza’s disastrous service delivery record for the community of Rockdale in Middelburg while he was still Premier.

In a statement released soon after Maimane’s visit to Rockdale, where R200 million of RDP houses are poorly built and occupants have no access to title deeds, the ANC fails to provide a coherent response to the service delivery challenges facing the residents.

Instead, they seek to deflate attention away from Mabuza’s failures as Premier by making sweeping statements that reflect the empty promises they have been giving to residents in the Province.

During his tenure as Premier, Mabuza spent millions of taxpayers money on the then Gupta-owned New Age newspaper to publish “good news” stories on his administration. He also presided over an administration responsible for billions of rands in wasteful expenditure, in a Province where health facilities and educational outcomes are among some of the worst in the country.

The truth is, the ANC has failed the residents of Rockdale and indeed the whole of Mpumalanga.

The latest Auditor General’s report on local government shows that most Mpumalanga municipalities are broke and unable to meet their service delivery obligation to residents.

Worse still, according to Stats SA, the largest increase in the unemployment rate was recorded in Mpumalanga, up by 3,5% to 42,5%.

Maimane’s visit to Rockdale was to give people of Mpumalanga an assurance that a DA-led government stands ready to deliver change and reverse the effects of the ANC’s misrule and restore public confidence in government once again.
